Accessibility on Kajabi

Kajabi is a platform for creators who sell courses, memberships, coaching and digital products. A site is built from landing pages, sales pages and product pages, with sections and blocks, opt-in forms, offers and a checkout, plus the member area where the course itself lives.

Much of what a customer experiences is media: lessons recorded as video or audio, workbooks and templates provided as PDFs, and slides. That raises questions a typical website does not, such as captions, transcripts and accessible downloads, in addition to the page-level checks a scan can run.

Kajabi’s help center explains how to add closed captions to videos by uploading a caption file. Captions are a core WCAG requirement for course video, and they are not added automatically: someone has to provide and check them. (opens in a new tab, source: Kajabi Help Center: closed captions)

Common Accessibility Issues on Kajabi Sites

  • Video lessons without captions

Lesson videos, sales-page videos and webinar replays need captions and, ideally, a transcript, or they cannot be used by anyone who is deaf or hard of hearing.

  • Inaccessible PDF downloads

Workbooks, checklists and slide handouts exported as scanned or untagged PDFs cannot be read by screen readers. Try our free PDF accessibility checker on yours.

  • Opt-in forms and pop-ups

Email capture forms with placeholder-only fields, countdown timers and exit-intent pop-ups that grab attention but not focus.

  • Contrast on sales pages

Light text over photos, colored buttons with white text and fine-print disclaimers in light gray often fail the contrast minimum.

  • Image-heavy sections

Testimonial screenshots, offer graphics and headlines placed as images contain information that is invisible to screen reader users without alt text.

How AccessBell Scans Your Kajabi Site

  1. Enter any public page. Paste the address of a page on your Kajabi site into the scanner above. There is nothing to install: no plugin, no code snippet and no login.
  2. We load it in a real browser. AccessBell opens the page in headless Chrome and runs its scripts, so it tests what your visitors actually see, including content added by your theme, apps or plugins.
  3. We run the WCAG rules. The open-source axe-core engine checks the page against the standard you choose, and every result is mapped to the WCAG success criteria it affects.
  4. You see what is wrong in seconds. The free scan lists every issue it finds, ranked by severity, with the WCAG criteria each one fails. Start a free trial to get the failing code and the fix for each one. Our methodology explains exactly what runs and what still needs a person.

How to Fix What the Scan Finds

  1. Upload a caption file for every video, and review auto-generated captions for errors, because names and technical terms are often wrong.
  2. Export downloads from an accessible source with tags turned on, and run them through a PDF check before you attach them to a product.
  3. Treat landing pages like any other site: scan them before you launch a campaign, and fix contrast, labels and alt text first.
  4. Run a free scan above on your homepage and a few key pages, fix issues starting with critical and serious, then rescan to confirm.
  5. For ongoing protection, AccessBell Pro monitors up to 500 URLs per domain every day and alerts you when a theme, app or plugin update introduces a new issue.

Kajabi Accessibility — Frequently Asked Questions

Does Kajabi add captions automatically?

You provide captions for a video by uploading a caption file. They are not a substitute for checking them, so review your captions, and add transcripts where you can.

Can the scanner check my course videos and PDFs?

The scan tests the pages. Check videos for captions yourself, and test PDFs with our free PDF accessibility checker. Private member pages need a login, so the public scan covers your landing, sales and offer pages.

Do digital products need to be accessible?

Accessibility laws and lawsuits focus on public websites and services, and online courses sold to the public are part of that. Making lessons and downloads accessible also widens who can buy from you.
