Create Your Accessibility Statement

An accessibility statement tells visitors how accessible your website is, the standard you work to and how to report a barrier. The W3C recommends publishing one, and it shows your commitment to customers. AccessBell writes it for you from a few answers.

Start the Statement

• During Add Domain, on the Accessibility statement step, select Create statement.
• For any domain, go to Settings > Accessibility statement and select Create statement or Edit statement.

The Six Steps

1. Organization type: business, nonprofit, government agency, school or other.
2. Company name, and how accessible the site is today: partially conformant or fully conformant. Only choose fully conformant if you have tested the site and are confident it meets the standard.
3. Contact info: the email address, and optionally the phone number, people can use to report a barrier or ask for another format.
4. Related policies & links (optional): up to 5 links, such as your privacy policy or a feedback form.
5. Custom notes (optional): for example, known limitations and when you plan to fix them, or alternatives you offer.
6. Install statement: your statement is saved. Preview it and choose how to publish it.

The statement names the WCAG version and level from your domain’s settings.

Publish It

• Hosted link: select Copy link and link to it from your site footer, for example with the text “Accessibility”. The hosted page stays up to date, including the date your site was last checked.
• On your own site: select Copy HTML or Download HTML and paste it into a new page on your site.
